Warm (finally) greetings from Tallinn this Spring! Charlie was so blessed to see many of you during his time in the U.S. a few weeks ago. He returned to Estonia tired, but very encouraged having been able to sit down with so many of our loved ones and share with you personally about the things we see the Lord doing here. We also want to express our sincere gratitude to those of you who gave him your home and your food and your love during his trip! He really felt loved and cared for, and this was a great blessing both for him and for us missing him back here in Estonia.
We want let you know a bit about the prayer retreats in which Miki has been involved these past several weeks. In March, she spent 3 days teaching and praying with a Methodist Church in Moscow, Russia, and then in April she assisted with teaching and prayer ministry at a retreat for the student body of the Baltic Methodist Theological Seminary (where she is also currently studying) in Tallinn.
Generally speaking, both retreats were amazing. Miki was greatly humbled, and her faith was deepened as she saw the Lord move so powerfully among His children.
In Moscow, Miki did some teaching and praying with the entire group of about 40 people, but spent most of her time praying with individuals and/or couples for specific requests they had. During these days of prayer, they saw the Lord bring spiritual deliverance, healing of relationships, healing of physical illnesses, and healing of emotional/spiritual issues. Additionally, many people experienced baptism of the Holy Spirit for the first time in their lives, describing the experience as “kind of a warm feeling of peace” coming over them that they’d never experienced before. All agreed that this was a feeling of the Lord’s presence they could not fully describe with words, and everyone was surprised particularly at how often He would fill them with His Holy Spirit, and bring healing to their bodies even in before they’d asked for it in prayer! He showed Himself so graciously, and reminded everyone that He knows best what His children need. He confirmed to each person that His plan and purpose to bring life is perfect, and that He alone truly is Lord.
In Tallinn, the movement of the Lord was just as wonderful, and it seemed, even a bit more surprising for the students as well as for those who served on the ministry team. On the first day, the team came together a couple of hours before the retreat began to pray together. During that time, Miki confessed that she was struggling with her faith, struggling to trust that the Lord would be able to break down the very thick spiritual walls that exist throughout this community that has seen so much oppression and darkness throughout the generations.
Once again, during those 2 days she was greatly humbled to repentance as she witnessed individuals become physically moved by the baptism of the Holy Spirit, or by the work of healing the Lord was doing in their lives through prayer. She was not alone in her amazement of the power of the Lord’s presence, as others in the room began to stop what they were doing to turn and watch as others were receiving His healing and deliverance and the baptism of His Holy Spirit. The times of praise and worship were rich with praise of His name, and many expressed that their faith and hope in the authority of the Lord Jesus was renewed in those days.
We know that many of you have also been praying for these retreats, and wanted to confirm to you that the Lord is hearing our prayers! More and more we are seeing that the commitment to prayer and fasting in the presence of the Lord is absolutely essential for facing the battles that exist in this place, as well as for ensuring our own safety from the schemes of the enemy. Your prayer support is vital. We know that we would not be here doing this work without your commitment to praying with us, and so we sincerely thank you.
Prayer Retreat Center Development
You all know that a large part of our vision in this region is the development of “prayer retreat centers” or “prayer houses”, which are places built and consecrated for the purpose of providing a safe place for people to come and to spend time in the presence of the Lord through prayer and solitude, as well as in community with other believers who are seeking to submit their whole lives to His will and glory. We still believe that it is a part of God’s desire to see such a full-time center built in the gorgeous country-side of Estonia. However, His timing for that center is not yet here, and so we continue in the work He has for us now until that day comes.
First, we have been praying for some months about what we feel may be the Lord’s leading to go ahead this fall and open a small prayer house within Tallinn. We have been given the funds already to be able to rent a small space in Tallinn for a year, which could be dedicated to providing a place of silent prayer, healing prayer retreat, and prayer training which we feel is so vital for the community. We realize this is not the ultimate vision we have received for a large prayer center to be developed outside of Tallinn, but are wondering if this may be a part of the Lord’s plan to begin building up the community of prayer warriors in this place, as a part of the preparation for what He ultimately will do in Estonia.
Second, this summer we have planned a 6-week family road trip throughout Europe during which we will be spending time with several ministries, so that we may share with each other our visions from the Lord to bring renewal of His Holy Spirit and to see the establishment of His Holy Kingdom in His children here. We plan to spend days visiting ministries in Hamburg and Düsseldorf, Germany, Paris, France, Montenegro, Romania, and possibly Ukraine. We are very excited about this trip, and are praying for the Lord to lead us regarding possible collaboration in the future, both in the areas of arts ministry, as well as in the development of prayer ministry and even the establishment of other prayer houses.
In all of this, the Lord is continuing to discipline us in the practice of following His leading, walking in obedience to His calling, and also in what it means to let Him do the work. We consider the words of 1 Corinthians 13: 8-12: Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears… For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.
Even in all of our greatest wisdom, we can not fully comprehend the magnificent and holy ways of our Heavenly Father. He alone is Lord, and the greatest thing we can do for His Kingdom is to submit to Him more and more, and to let Him fill us graciously with His own perfect love, which never fails.
We love you and thank God for you. We pray that in these days we will together experience a new level of His presence and love in our lives, and that we will all know a new reality of life and freedom as we proclaim, He alone truly is Lord.
Charlie, Miki, Isabel, Jasper and Celia
Charlie’s visit to the US helped keep us out of the red, and we’ve picked up some new support as well. We won’t really see the funding impact of the visit for a month or so – when reports come in indicating new pledges and one-time gifts. For now, it appears like we still need considerable assistance with our ongoing support. If you’ve ever considered supporting this ministry and have yet to do so – now would be a great time to start! If you are a current supporter, consider telling others about this vital work – and ask them to join as well. Thanks!
